Babies are precious. They are fragile and delicate. Parents only want the best for their children. In order to provide a save, healthy atmosphere for a baby or small child, it’s important to use appropriate window treatments and blinds. While room color and decorations are important, so too are window treatments. They help control the amount of light that is let into the room, they help keep out drafts and they can insulate against noise.

Window treatments that have cords or hanging strings can get caught around children. Aside from some discomfort, entanglement can also result in suffocation or death. Therefore, it is imperative to install cordless window treatments. If you can’t afford new blinds, there are free retrofit kits on-line that will help prevent any potential disasters. The good news is there are cordless versions of almost every popular blind including aluminum mini-blinds, roman blinds and cellular shades.

For baby rooms the following blinds are recommended:

1. Deluxe 3/8″ Double Cellular Shades: Cellular shades are best known for their ability to insulate rooms. The honeycomb weave traps cold air or warm air, keeping temperatures in a room more consistent. These shades also help keep heating and air conditioning costs down as they prevent drafts from coming in. The colors seem as if they were designed for a child’s room: buttercup, blush, putty, snowflake, serenity and sunset. If in stock, these blinds should ship within 24 hours.

2. Satin Roman Shades: Satin Roman shades are some of the most indulgent shades on the market for children’s rooms. They can make a girl’s room seem like a princess’ room. From sea foam to golden summer to spring blossom, the gentle color selection will perfectly compliment hand woven baby blankets and mahogany cribs and changing tables.

3. Cordless Mini Blinds. These blinds are the most economical of the bunch. They are simple, easy to install and help control the amount of light that can enter a room. With aluminum mini-blinds it’s easy to create a dark, inviting atmosphere for your baby’s naps. These window treatments accommodate large windows as well as small and are custom made to your specifications.

4. Deluxe ” Blackout Single Cell Shades: Blackout shades are perfect for rooms that get direct sunlight during nap time or that are exposed to streetlamps or other light pollutions during the night. Your baby will think he/she is still in the womb. Their limited lifetime warranty ensures against damage and they are manufactured in the United States. Colors available are beech wood, bluegrass and dogwood.

5. Cordless Translucent ” Single Cell Shades. These shades are made with a spun lace honeycomb design. These shades filter light in during the day so your baby can stay in tune with the cycles of day and night while at the same time offering privacy to the world. They also help insulate homes and block UV rays.

It is imperative that parents order cordless blinds when decorating a baby or child’s room. These blinds offer a variety of elegance and practicality as well as safety for any nursery.
