As a tenant who is currently living in one of the rental homes in Utah, you may be unsatisfied with the way some of the terms in your rental contract are laid out. The landlord will be more willing to listen to you knowing that you aren’t complaining about the past rental situation, you just want to change some things to enhance the situation to your personal needs. They will be more willing to negotiate as well since you’ve complimented your stay.
As a tenant, talk about why you want the rental price lowered. Be sure it is a reasonable request beforehand. If you really need it lowered by quite a lot, it’s not worth asking for it because landlords still need money to pay for the mortgage payments. You might as well move to a different rental with a lower price. But if it’s slightly lower, then you might have a chance of a landlord going for it. Especially if you offers services like mowing the lawn for them in exchange.
If you are trying to change the date of your payments, then explain your situation such as you don’t receive your check until just 5 days after the rent is due. Make negotiations that you will pay it right after 5 days of the original due date. This can also help landlords understand why your payment is coming in slightly late. Don’t be scared when asking your landlord to make changes. If you do it respectfully and in the proper way, you guys can come up with a win-win negotiation.
