For today’s families, it can be hard to find something that everyone can do together. But, you can actually turn your trash removal into a recycling effort that the whole family can be a part of. Not sure how to start? Here are ten great tips that will get you and your family recycling what you can and help get your trash removal down to an art form:

Tip #1: Find your local recycling places and know what they take in. This way, you can easily see what you can and can’t recycle when you are in the midst of trash removal at home.

Tip #2: Get some smaller garbage cans or plastic bins to use for your recycling so you can separate everything out before you take it to the recycling center. This makes it a lot easier to just dump your bins in the recycling areas and you won’t be picking through the trash.

Tip #3: Place the bins in a common area, such as next to the trash can outside, behind the garage, or other spot so they are always kept in one spot. This way, everyone knows where they are and you can easily cut your time down.

Tip #4: Show everyone where the bins are for trash removal and make sure that everyone in your family does their part to separate the recyclable items from trash.

Tip #5: To save gas and time, go to the recycling center once a month. This way, you aren’t wasting money on gas to go several times a month and you are maximizing your recycling at home. If you have too much recycling to do this only once, go twice a month with your family.

Tip #6: When you make a family effort toward recycling and trash removal, it will become something that your children will remember and it will stick with them forever. This way, you know that you are raising caring adults that will take pride in keeping their home, and community, clean.

Tip #7: Check on special recycling facilities in your area for bigger items, like metal, specially colored glass, cars, and other items that you cannot throw out.

Tip #8: Check with local charities and Goodwill to see if you can donate larger items like furniture, appliance, clothing, or even cars. There are people out there that can use these items instead of allowing them to go to a trash dump.

Tip #9: Help to start a local recycling initiative in your area and get everyone working to make your city cleaner. This can help to restore your children’s sense of community and help them to become productive adults when they see that they can make a difference.

Tip #10: Local schools can also get involved with helping to recycle and your kids can help to spearhead this effort with a little help from you.

No matter how you view trash removal, it’s easy to work together as a family to ensure that it gets done right and that you recycle as much as you can to help the environment. Plus, you will be doing something constructive as a family and you will gain great benefits as well.
